My Semester at Sea experience was transformative. I immersed myself in many different cultures, and I not only learned about them but also had the privilege of experiencing them alongside the people who live them. One of my most eye-opening experiences was in a Ghanaian village, where I spent a week teaching algebra to fifth graders, assisting in the nursery, and cooking breakfast and lunch for the school. After school, we drove the students home, which gave me time to spend in the village—playing soccer and sharing dinner at the students' houses. I continue to stay in touch with the school and hope to visit again soon.
